Blennerhassett Island in the Ohio River at Parkersburg is a state park with a reconstructed mansion on the site of Harman and Margaret Blennerhassett's 1790s home. Local legend says Margaret walks the island with her children, and campers have told of smelling perfume in the night. State tourism notes locals' belief that the island is haunted by Native American and Irish aristocratic spirits.
The island is reached by a seasonal sternwheeler ferry from Point Park in Parkersburg; check the state park for schedules and mansion tours.
