The Bale of Hay Saloon in Virginia City opened in 1863 and is considered Montana's oldest saloon. It stands in a historic gold-rush town that is one of southwest Montana's best-known ghost-story destinations. Reports at the saloon include the smell of mothballs with no source and a jukebox that plays by itself. A nightly ghost walk in season leaves from the saloon.
Operating bar on Wallace Street in Virginia City's historic district. Ghost walks run seasonally in the evening.
