The Wyoming Territorial Prison in Laramie, built in 1872, held outlaws including Butch Cassidy, and is now a state historic site. Local lore says it has one resident ghost, Julius Greenwald, prisoner number 338, a cigar maker who was a playful poltergeist, and visitors report the smell of cigar smoke along with footsteps, whistles and creaks.
