The White House of Wilmington is a mansion built in 1915 as the summer home of Martin and Clara Brown and later turned into an inn. The inn's own history tells of Clara Brown's ghost and of a bank vault in the basement where, in local legend, a thief was locked in and died. Guests and staff are reported to have felt cold spots, seen doors open on their own and seen apparitions. The stories come mainly from the inn's own lore and one regional article.
Working inn and spa on Route 9; the public rooms are open to visitors and guests.
