The Spanish Governor's Palace, built in 1749 as the commandant's house of the Presidio San Antonio de Béxar, is the last standing piece of that fort and the only surviving example of an aristocratic 18th-century house in Texas. It is now a city museum with a courtyard and fountain. Ghost lore and a local paranormal group tell of the spirits of Native people and Spanish colonists and of a little girl tied to the fountain, whose giggles investigators say they recorded.
City-run museum with a courtyard on Plaza de Armas; check the City of San Antonio site for current hours and admission.
