According to local legend, a woman hanged herself at Emmett's Plaza Bridge long ago, and her shadow is still sometimes reported along the bridge's side at night. Visitors have also described a woman's partial form searching the area, accompanied by the sound of babies crying and a mother trying to shush them, along with scratching and tapping reported by campers and drivers parked near the bridge after dark.
Plaza Bridge is a public day-use fishing and boating access on the Payette River, below Black Canyon Dam. Floating this river is dangerous around diversion dams, so be careful.
