Beneath downtown Pendleton, a network of rooms and passages once served a business district that included Chinese workers' living quarters, bathhouses and gambling rooms in the early 1900s. Pendleton Underground Tours leads visitors through the surviving spaces and tells the story of the Chinese immigrants who lived and worked there. Guides and visitors say a presence is felt in one of the living quarters, and the stories are told alongside the real history of the people who lived in the rooms.
