Mission Espíritu Santo, within Goliad State Park, was a Spanish mission founded in 1722 and moved to this site in 1749. The Native peoples who lived and worked here built much of what stood. The mission was rebuilt in the 1930s. Park visitors and staff have described an apparition of a Native man on horseback, the sound of drums, the smell of pipe smoke and a phantom wolf near the woods, accounts that remain local lore.
Part of Goliad State Park; a park entry fee applies, and the grounds and church are open to visitors in park hours.
