The Lotz House was built in 1858 by Johann Lotz, a German immigrant woodworker, and stood in the middle of the Battle of Franklin on November 30, 1864, one of the bloodiest battles of the Civil War. The family sheltered in the cellar while the house was damaged and later used to care for the wounded. Today it is a museum, and its ghost tours and visitors describe the sound of a woman weeping for a loved one, drumming, and the figure of a girl at an upper window.
Open as a museum with guided tours; ghost tours run on select evenings. Check lotzhouse.com for current hours and tickets.
