Goldfield was a gold camp that boomed after a strike in 1892 and faded when the ore quality fell. The town visitors see today is a reconstruction at the foot of the Superstition Mountains, with a museum, a narrow-gauge train, gunfight shows and tours of the Mammoth gold mine. It is a tourist attraction built on a real boom town.
