The Rio Theatre, on Broadway in Idaho Falls, opened in 1924 as the Broadway Theatre and took the Rio name in the mid-1930s; it closed in 2001 and reopened in 2013 as the ARTitorium, an arts venue run by the Idaho Falls Arts Council. Local legend holds that the building's basement once served as a mortuary and its top floor as a ballroom, and that both the theater and the neighboring Eagle's Lounge carry a reputation for unexplained activity, though the mortuary and ballroom claims haven't been independently confirmed.
The Rio Theatre closed in 2001 and is now ARTitorium on Broadway, an arts lab for youth. It is not open as a theater, so check the ARTitorium's hours before visiting.
