Built in 1884 as a schoolhouse in Bristol's North Chippens Hill district, the building became a Sunday school under the Sessions family and was chartered as Mount Hope Chapel in 1889. Since February 2001 it has operated as the Church of Eternal Light, a pagan spiritualist congregation. Reports include a ghostly face appearing in the bell tower windows, orbs, and the apparition of a woman in early-1900s dress seen walking the grounds; one local story holds that a parishioner was struck and killed by lightning on the front steps, and that it's his spirit that lingers.
