The angel statue marking the grave of Louisa Mohay, who died in 1908 at age four, has been the subject of ghost stories in Springfield for generations. Local legend holds that the statue turns her head late at night, especially around Halloween or when a passing car's headlights catch her — enough of a draw that people still park nearby hoping to see it happen. It's regarded locally as more folklore than fact, but it remains one of Springfield's most enduring urban legends.
Working Catholic cemetery run by the Diocese of Springfield. Visit during daylight and keep clear of services. The angel marks the grave of a four-year-old child, so please be respectful.
