Boone Tavern Hotel opened in 1909 as a guest house for Berea College and is still owned and run by the college, with student staff and a restaurant known for Kentucky cooking. Its ghost stories were taken up by Ghost Chasers International, the investigators Chuck and Patti Starr, who have held ghost-hunting weekends at the hotel, and the weekends drew coverage in the Richmond Register. Guests and staff report voices that no one can account for. The hotel has not made the haunting part of its official identity, so the stories remain a footnote to a working college inn.
Operating hotel and restaurant on the Berea College campus, open to guests and diners. Ghost-hunting weekends have been advertised in the past, so ask the hotel whether any are scheduled.
