The Blue River — first mapped by Squire Boone, Daniel Boone's brother, and one of only three Indiana rivers on the National Natural Scenic Rivers list — has drawn canoeists and kayakers to this stretch near Corydon for decades, with local outfitters running trips since the 1980s. Local legend holds that a young woman canoeing here was decapitated when someone strung fishing line across the water between two trees, and that she's still seen at night, searching for her head.
Scenic river in southern Indiana, one of the state's few National Scenic Rivers. Paddling is popular, with canoe ramps in Harrison-Crawford State Forest. Check river levels before going out, and stay off private banks.
