Founded in 1887 by Benedictine monks from St. Procopius Abbey, Benedictine University carries ghost stories across several of its campus buildings. Students and staff describe a little boy in a blue t-shirt and shorts seen wandering campus in any weather before vanishing; Benedictine Hall's fourth floor is said to be haunted by a clergyman, and rumors persist of an exorcism performed on the fifth floor after a student became disturbed following a Ouija board session in a nearby cemetery. Jaeger Hall is said to be haunted by children whose presence turns on residents' stereos at night, and in Neuzil Hall, a young boy and girl reportedly appeared in a photograph only after it was developed. Some also describe underground tunnels connecting parts of the campus.
Working university. Campus visits go through admissions, and the buildings and any underground tunnels are not open for casual visits.
