Baker Mansion in Altoona was built in the 1840s for iron master Elias Baker and is now a museum of the Blair County Historical Society. Staff and visitors describe a presence they link to the Baker family's matriarch, and a wedding dress in a glass case that is said to move on its own, especially around Halloween and full moons. The society offers lantern-lit evening tours that tell of the family's history and of reports of activity in the house after hours.
Museum open Friday through Sunday in season (starting in late May), with special lantern-light evening tours in the fall; check the Blair County Historical Society.
