Built in 1926 by local philanthropists Dellora and Lester Norris and now listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Arcada Theatre opened with silent films and live vaudeville. Local legend holds that Al Capone used the theater's basement tunnels during Prohibition to move liquor, and possibly to hide from police, while a separate story tells of a woman who hanged herself from the balcony. Staff and guests report whispers, footsteps, and shadowy figures near the empty balcony, along with unexplained cold spots and phantom odors throughout the building.
