The Hotel Adolphus opened in 1912 in downtown Dallas, built by brewing magnate Adolphus Busch, and has hosted presidents, stars and royalty. Its best-known legend is the Lady in White on the upper floors, usually placed on the 19th: a jilted bride said to wait for a groom who never came, alongside windows that slam open and the phantom sound of a piano and band. The story is lore that, as local writers note, is not documented in newspaper records of the time, but the hotel embraces it, including in its lobby bar.
