The USS Constellation in Baltimore's Inner Harbor was launched in 1854 and is the last all-sail warship built by the U.S. Navy, now a museum ship run by Historic Ships in Baltimore. The museum offers Maritime Macabre lantern-light tours after dark, with ghost stories drawn from historical accounts of unfortunate events aboard. The best-known ghost is Carl Hansen, the ship's night watchman until the mid-1960s, described as a protective older man seen on deck, and staff and visitors have also reported people on the decks and in the gun ports, voices below, the smell of gunpowder and pots floating in the galley. The stories are staff and visitor lore.
Museum ship at Pier 1 in the Inner Harbor, open for self-guided and guided visits; Maritime Macabre lantern tours and overnight programs are run by Historic Ships in Baltimore. Check its site for current hours and tickets.
