The Conjuring House is the Burrillville, Rhode Island farmhouse where the Perron family said they endured nearly a decade of paranormal activity in the 1970s, the real-life story behind the film The Conjuring. Andrea Perron's account differs from the movie: the climactic basement exorcism did not happen, a séance was held in a first-floor room next to her parents' bedroom instead, and the paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren were minor figures whom her father, Roger, threw out of the house. Legend names Bathsheba Sherman, a farmer's wife who died in 1885, as the witch who haunts the property, though the records show no evidence she was a witch or harmed a child and the story only took hold in the 1970s. The farmhouse, also known as the Old Arnold Estate, is commonly dated to 1736, with a Perron family tenancy given as 1970 to 1980. It is private property and not open to visitors.
Private property and not open to the public. The Town of Burrillville declined to renew the owner's entertainment license, which halted tours and overnight stays, and the house changed hands again in 2026. Please respect the owners and neighbors and do not trespass; check local news before assuming any tours have resumed.
