At Lake Prairie Cemetery, visitors report mists, orbs of light, and figures of the deceased, concentrated in the older southern half where the oldest grave markers stand. Established around 1857 when the Lake Prairie Presbyterian Church deeded an acre of land for it, Lake Prairie Cemetery — also known as West Creek Cemetery — holds its first grave from 1858, Henry Peach, and has grown to roughly 500 recorded burials on land tied to the area's earliest settlement in 1835. The cemetery sits on a hill at Calumet Avenue, about two miles west of Route 41.
Township-maintained cemetery at US 41 and State Road 2. Visit in daylight and treat the graves with respect.
