This Strip resort, long known as Bally's and recently renamed Horseshoe Las Vegas, stands on the site of the original MGM Grand, which opened in 1973. On November 21, 1980, a fire swept through the casino and the hotel, killing 85 people and injuring hundreds more, one of the deadliest hotel fires in United States history. Nevada haunted-places lists and Las Vegas ghost writers have long named the property, and guests have claimed to see figures of the victims in hallways. As with many Strip properties, the reports come from guests and staff and are not documented.
Operating casino resort on the Strip, open to the public around the clock.
