The Cook-Rutledge Mansion in Chippewa Falls is a Victorian house built in the 1870s for a lumber-era family and later owned by the lumberman Edward Rutledge, and it is now a historic house museum. Visitors and volunteers have reported apparitions, doors opening and closing, phantom footsteps and music, and the feeling of being watched. The mansion hosts candlelit and flashlight tours in the fall as well as seasonal open houses. The stories are local lore passed along by those who care for the house.
Open for tours on a limited seasonal schedule, with candlelit and flashlight tours in fall; call or check the mansion's site before visiting.
