The C. C. Cohen Building at 202 Broadway in downtown Paducah was the home of the Cohen family, and its ghost is said to be Stella Cohen Peine, the last of the family, who died in her upstairs apartment in 1980. The Paducah Sun has reported on the stories, which have been told for about four decades. Staff and patrons have described chairs moving on their own, salt and pepper shakers toppling, flickering lights and movement in reflections, and some photographs seem to show a woman at the upstairs window. The ground floor now houses Stella's, a restaurant named for her.
The ground floor is Stella's, a restaurant and tavern at 202 Broadway that is open daily; the upstairs apartment is not open to the public. Check the restaurant for current hours.
