Pittsburgh plumber John Addy built the Addy-Sea in 1902 as a family home — the first building in town wired for gaslight and plumbed indoors. Storm-surge threats to its beachfront lot forced two relocations in the 1920s, and the family began renting rooms to visiting church groups in the 1930s to make ends meet, which grew into the bed and breakfast the Gravatte family has run since the 1970s. Three of its thirteen rooms carry the reputation: in Room 1, the bathtub is said to shake on its own; in Room 6, guests report organ music playing somewhere in the building, though there's no organ on the property; and in Room 11, tub jets turn on by themselves, cell phones switch off unprompted, and a presence attributed to a former early-1900s employee makes itself known. Staff and guests elsewhere in the inn describe the scent of floral perfume, oil lamps falling, and small objects moving.
Operating oceanfront bed and breakfast for guests age 21 and over. Rooms are for guests; the inn also serves afternoon tea and meals, so contact it about those.
